Message from the Founder May 2016
Dear Lovers of Israel,
Today is an exciting day for me, for today on this Shabbat, in the city of Toledo, Spain I visited the historical Transito Sephardic synagogue. I was blessed and honored to pray for the memory of my family members inside this historic synagogue, the place my ancestors lived and prayed from the years 1100 to 1492 before they were expelled from Spain. My Mother’s family led by Mr. Moshe Abadi had lived in Toledo for several centuries before all Jews were expelled in 1492. My family escaped from Toledo to Amsterdam and later immigrated to Jerusalem in the early 1500’s. We are a 9th generation Jewish family. My mother, the family matriarch, turned 94 this week. Our family has deep roots in the Holy Land of Israel we are living witnesses to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy found in Jeremiah.
“Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “that it shall no more be said, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.” (Jeremiah 16:14-15)
So next time someone questions you about the right of the Jews to live on their Holy Land you are most welcome to share the story of my family. We were among some of the first families to move to the Holy Land in the early 1500’s living in the Old City of Jerusalem later moving to the New City of Jerusalem outside the walls in 1904.
“Thus says the Lord: ‘I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, the Mountain of the Lord of hosts, the Holy Mountain.’” (Zechariah 8:3)
Blessings upon you and yours–have a great week Shavua Tov!
