The Force of Compassion

Ever wondered how you can touch the world? Ever wanted to do more and thought it impossible due to your own life situation? The Love of God has made a way since the beginning of time hidden within the power that lies within a seed.

Jesus speaks of a widow who gave an offering of two mites at the temple in the Gospels of Mark and Luke. That particular day many others gave much more than the widow but Jesus calls attention to her offering saying, she had put in more than all. Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

Surely, this certain widow could have used this money in her life. What motivated her to give without concern for herself? As she gave that day, scripture does not reveal what her needs were, nevertheless, we know God saw her needs and discerned her heart. Interestingly, Jesus brings attention to this nameless widow for us to see an example of a level of giving that is pleasing to God the Father. This story has been told for centuries and today we all wrestle with the pressures of giving and are constantly fighting off bombardments that try to paralyze our ability to move and respond to God.

Paul teaches in 1 Corinthians 3:7, that neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but it is God who gives the increase. Compassion is God’s force used to touch people’s lives.  Jesus walked this earth demonstrating the power that is released through the force of compassion.  God’s compassion is the very key to supernatural harvest in this natural world and it is our confirmation from Him of when to move and when to give. The widow gave when she was moved with compassion and this response moved Jesus to set her in history forever.  No one person can do everything and no one person can meet every need, but together as the Body of Christ we can reach out to people knowing God will multiple and bless our acts of obedience when we respond to His move of compassion. has through compassion chosen to support children sick with cancer and the elderly survivors of the Holocaust. Both the children and the elderly have limited resources: one is struggling to live life and the other is struggling live at the end of life. We ask those that Love Israel to pray and ask God what you can do out of your livelihood to touch a life. Then when the Holy Spirit moves with compassion within your heart, we encourage you to respond to that force and reach out and help these children and elderly as the Holy Spirit directs. Let’s live life as Jesus did responding to people when moved with compassion to heal and to bless.
